Talk about timing! We had just finished paying our taxes and the April meeting was all about MONEY! Lynn Fox kicked things off with a Pre-Meeting Mini-Lecture (a Ring 9 tradition!) about spin selling and how this concept of salesmanship applies to the magic business. After a brief business meeting, and welcoming new member Bob Jackson, we got down to the Magic!

First, we had two performances for membership. Jorge Tenjo did a couple of amazing and fun routines with silks, borrowed money and a lo-o-o-ong rope! Chris Finley, the new owner of Kennesaw Magic, impressed us all with his skill and presentation of a floating sphere and a borrowed quarter.

Our theme for April was MONEY MAGIC, and there was lots of it (magic, not money) to go around! Jeff Wasley showed us the newest IRS formula for determining taxes, using cards, with the help of volunteer Patrick Floyd. Joe M. Turner borrowed a $50.00 bill from Bill Packard (a magician with a fifty – imagine that!) and, among other things, burned the bill, and rolled up flash paper to resemble a "hand rolled" method of helping you forget that your bill just burned up!

Bill followed this trick with the classic riddle about the hotel room, three guests, a bellhop and a discount. With the help of two volunteers, Bill still didn’t answer the riddle, but made some money disappear. David Oglesby’s money from a salt shaker was impressive, and Tommy Johns closed Money Magic with a story about Martha Berry and a donation from Henry Ford, turning a dime into peanuts, peanuts into a piano, and a dream into reality.

The April theme magic was won by Tommy Johns, who will receive the Ring 9 Coveted Royal Blue Pen and a certificate suitable for framing. Whenever you are in Atlanta, look us up. We’d love to have you join us!

Respectfully Submitted,
Tommy Johns
