Our April meeting began with a Mini Lecture by Merritt Ambrose. He presented and taught a tremendous amount of Cups & Balls variations. The very thorough presentation included demonstrations of a false transfer, the inertia move, various loads, the scoop steal, cup through cup moves, pulling a ball from a cup, the elevator move, a flushtration count, and much more! Merritt rounded out the informative presentation with performances of two complete routines, one simple, and one quite complex.

This month's Magic Theme, "Vanish Something", was kicked off by Jim Magus with a performance of "witch's knives". The first knife vanished, the second visibly bent until it broke, and the third knife bent in an audience member's hand.

Ken Scott performed "random" items over the head with our young guest Avery. First a pad of paper, then a shoe went flying. This was followed by a fun 20th Century Silks routine using an envelope that contained instructions to the trick.

Rounding out our short grouping of theme performances, Bill Packard performed a sponge ball routine, concluding with the balls all vanishing.

General Magic performances began with Dan Garrett presenting a new fun Asian drawing duplication book titled Haiku. Merritt Ambrose magically caused a signed card to vanish from between two kings, and reappear between the two other kings. Martin Baratz shared an interesting numerological oddity, he and Bill Packard both spelled Ace through King, reveling each spelled-to card simultaneously from one stacked deck and one deck in random order.

Winner of the Coveted Royal Blue Pen Award for April was Ken Scott. And winner for Best General Magic Performance of the Evening was Merritt Ambrose.
