Our August meeting began with Tommy Johns giving our Pre-Meeting Mini-Lecture on the six elements of "Making Your Magic Your Magic." Our business meeting was highlighted by the nomination of FOUR new members, Jason Empey, Amanda Finley, Adam Johns, and Kim Reynolds. The club just keeps growing!

Mark Robinson performed for membership, using a two piece custom made deck of cards (you know he's really good) and one of the most unusual bits of audience misdirection I've ever seen! The theme for August was Rope Magic, and the club showed its creativity and skill with some amazing and fun routines. performing in theme magic were Wes Petty, Lynn Fox, Gene Hendrix, Bill Packard, Kevin McDaid, Aragorn, Joe M. Turner and Cesar Vega. All were excellent, but two need to be featured. Joe brought down the house with a rope routine performed to the song from Will Roger's Follies, entitled "Give a Man Enough Rope." Wes Petty's very clever and bold routine (a la Tabary) was excellent and won him the Coveted Royal Blue Pen Award by vote of the members present.

Joe and Aragorn came back to perform in the general magic category as the votes were tabulated.

In September, we were honored to have Rolando Santos, club member and Linking Ring Assistant Editor, present our PMML, on how to make your routines more logical. He provided invaluable help to those wise enough to use it! Our business meeting included a report of our club show, and an announcement about the first Ring 9 Member initiation in recent memory, to be held in November. More about these events in a future issue!

Jason Empey and Adam Johns performed for membership and entertained and amazed us with their very different styles. Our theme was Halloween Magic and as always we had great participation and super talent. Performing for theme were: Evan Reynolds as the Rocketeer, Howie the Great, Kevin McDaid, Kirk Pumphrey, Mark Hatfield and Ken Scott. Kirk's hilarious pun-filled story involving every candy known to man won the September theme award. After the theme magic, Jim Mangum, Howie, and Kevin performed in the General magic slot to the enjoyment of all present.

Ring 9 continues to grow and have great meetings! If you are ever in the Atlanta area on the 3rd Monday of any month, come on by!
