ARTHUR ATSMA began our evening with a "mini lecture" on the performance of close-up magic at corporate events. He shared his method of getting spectators to remember his website, and how he manages to entertain every person attending an event. Arthur entertained us with Coins Across, a series of four ace appearances, and Kennedy's Mystery Box.

Ring 9 President DALE ADAMSON officially presented the 2006 Greater Atlanta Magician of the Year trophy to this year's winner, DEBBIE LEIFER. During Debbie's short emotional speech she thanked the people in the club who encouraged her throughout last year to become more active in the local magic community.

Our business meeting featured an update on the 2008 SEAM convention we are hosting in Atlanta. Everyone was encouraged to volunteer for the various responsibilities it will take to produce a successful convention.

Our theme for February was "21st Century Magic". KENT LAIRD performed a very clever routine with CDs that began as the victims of a computer virus, evidenced by the blue splotches on each CD. Kent magically deleted the virus from the CDs, the proof was that "quarantine" statements magically appeared. Our second theme performer was RON GLADSTONE who demonstrated a card-based version of the Daytona Races featuring funny names. After a winner was randomly chosen, a cassette tape of the race proved that Ron accurately predicted the winner. KENT LAIRD won the Coveted Royal Blue Pen Award for February.

For General Magic, Gene Hendrix causes rainbow streamers to appear. BOB STULTZ offered a game of chance that would result in one player winning a $20 bill. KC ROBERTS, DALE ADAMSON, and JC DOTY each chose an envelope. They all "won" slips of paper, while Bob managed to keep his money. RAY MILLER performed for membership, pouring four different colors of liquid from a pitcher of clear water.

If you happen to be in Atlanta on the third Monday of any month, we would welcome you as our guest for a fun evening of magic and to meet some new friends!
