I.B.M. Ring 9
Ring Reports
The July meeting began with an OUTSTANDING Mini-Lecture by Joe M.
Turner on
"Making Your Act Great!" He covered a lot of ground in his allotted 30
minutes. I took a full page of notes! After a brief business meeting,
we
welcomed guests and got to the magic.
Bobby Campbell performed for membership with a very clever burned an
restored bill, where he actually restored the dollar to four quarters
in a
really hot way! He changed a spotted die to a blank cube and then did
a
very clever routine with vanishing water, with a "magician in trouble"
twist
thrown in. Our theme for July was Gaff Magic - No Sleights Allowed!
which
meant there was finally some hope for guys like me! Joe Morrison did a
comedy routine ending by revealing a 16 of Hearts and a 3-1/2 of Clubs.
A
robot helped him find a selected card to "wind up" his segment.
Kevin McDaid's found a chosen card in an envelope in a wallet and the
melted
of an ice cube with his psychic power and Dale Adamson returned to the
Ring
9 stage with a vanish and transposition of a silk and candle. Tommy
Johns
performed the laziest card trick in the world with the help of Rick
Alston,
and Wes Petty performed an amazing revelation with 2 gaffed decks and a
gaffed bag (or so he claimed). Evan Reynolds built a really cool scale
model of the Pepper's Ghost Illusion he hopes to build (full size) for
Halloween. David Smith's parrot, Lilly, found a selected card. We are
still not sure if the cards or Lilly was gaffed.
Joe M. Turner performed a stage version of a card trick and then did a
lightning fast card in frame revelation. In the general theme of
magic, Joe
performed an incredible card to pocket routine and Carey Huddlestun got
a
volunteer to deal four aces to the tops of four stack of cards. Joe
Turner
was awarded the Coveted Royal Blue Pen for his routine and all went
home
with smiles on their faces!
Whenever you are in Atlanta, look us up. We'd love to have you join us!
