The Georgia Magic Club has been enjoying the generosity of our own talented and creative members in the form of "Mini-Lectures" presented each month prior to our business meeting.

Our June 2007 meeting began with a wonderful Mini-Lecture presented by KEITH RAINEY. Keith is a serious student of coin magic, and his rare performances have always been top-notch displays of skillful sleight-of-hand. His mini-lecture was titled "I'm Supposed To Hide That Where?" (a clever twist on the evening's performance theme). Keith taught us how to master finding our Classic Palm position, the Kaps/Malini Subtlety, a Retention Click Pass, and a Retention Vanish, all leading to the performance of Dan Watkin's Sticky Coins. Keith kindly gifted us all with lecture notes containing color photos.

Our performance theme this month was "You Want Me To Do Magic With WHAT?" The concept was intended to be a fun evening that would stretch our creativity and challenge our knowledge of impromptu magic! Each performer had to choose one or two household items brought by other members.

JOE M. TURNER began our theme performances by repeatedly making a cork magically stand up underneath a Styrofoam cup. GUY PHILLIPS dazzled us with his mind reading talent involving crayons. WES PETTY truly dazzled us with a very impressive series of linking and unlinking of large safety pins. Wes has a vast knowledge of magic, and he demonstrated that he has worked hard on perfecting routines with everyday objects.

DEBBIE LEIFER presented a mind reading experiment involving a pad and pen, a young visitor who held her prediction, and audience volunteer RICK SILVER. Of course Debbie accurately predicted the total of a series of freely chosen numbers.

KEVIN McDAID proved the value in McBride's Magic 24/7 lecture when he magically caused a long silk rainbow streamer to appear from a dollar bill. Rounding out our impromptu magic performances was HOWIE MARMER who combined a card revelation with a roll of Ace bandages. It was such a coincidence that the card chosen was indeed an ace. The winner of the Coveted Royal Blue Pen Award for June was WES PETTY.

We now feature photos of each month's meeting performances on our www.GaMagicClub.com website, so we welcome visitors to check out the fun. Even better, if you happen to be in Atlanta on the third Monday of any month, we would welcome you as our guest for a fun evening of magic and to meet some new friends!
