Our November 2007 meeting began with a Mini-Lecture by BILL PACKARD. Last summer Bill developed a unique theme show to perform at Georgia libraries, and he volunteered to share part of that inventive program with us. His "Seven Wonders of the World" show is an impressive compilation of multimedia video, photo and music that serve as the thread that links together information and magic tricks that take his audience around the world. Dressed as a pilot, Bill shared with us a portion of his show where a stuffed gnu vanishes and reappears, and his witty puns included such delights as "even when he's old, he's gnu!"

Our business meeting that followed was one of the most significant ones we've had in a long time. Our president, DALE ADAMSON, has chosen to step due to professional responsibilities, so the first order of business was to nominate and vote on a new 2008 president. With lightening speed, DEBBIE LEIFER was nominated, seconded, nominations were closed, and a very surprised Debbie was unanimously elected.

We then moved on to finding a new chairperson for our upcoming SEAM convention that Ring 9 will host in August 2008 in Atlanta. We were thrilled when KEN SCOTT volunteered to serve as chair of the convention, and his leadership skills were proven immediately during our post-meeting gathering of the SEAM committee where much was accomplished.

Finally, our final round nominations for Magician of the Year were announced. After a first-round vote, six worthy candidates were narrowed down to two from Ring 9, KEN SCOTT and EVAN REYNOLDS, along with KEITH RAINEY who was nominated by Assembly 30.

We welcomed two prospective members, MERRITT AMBROSE and NATHANAEL GRIECO, who entertained us with interesting performances that served as their membership performances. Then on to the theme performances, this month was called "Think A Drink" liquid magic. LYNN FOX really surprised us with the magical appearance of a bottle of Wild Turkey. (small inside club joke is that every November Lynn performs "turkey magic" and always wins for theme. Although we fooled him with the theme of liquid magic this year, he managed to still do it with his choice of liquior.) Our other theme performer was DEBBIE LEIFER who caused a large coke bottle to magically transform into a full can of coke.

Winner of the Coveted Royal Blue Pen Award for November was LYNN FOX. We now feature photos of each month's meeting performances on our www.GaMagicClub.com website, so we welcome visitors to check out the fun. Even better, if you happen to be in Atlanta on the third Monday of any month, we would welcome you as our guest for a fun evening of magic and to meet some new friends!
