I.B.M. Ring 9

This is a great time to consider joining us in Ring 9. We've had a great upswing in activity and attendance, and it's only going to get better. In the last few years, we have:

• Produced a multi-day convention for the South Eastern Association of Magicians

• Raised over $2000 for Magic For Heroes, a benefit performance to aid the Disaster Relief Fund of the American Red Cross.

• Produced our annual banquet, including close-up and stage acts performed by our members.

• Had several members attend the Winter Carnival of Magic in Gatlinburg TN. By carpooling and sharing hotel rooms, members were able to save significantly on the expenses. Ring 9 members have also attended SCAM, FISM, FFFF, the IBM National Convention, SEAM, and the Atlanta Harvest of Magic.

• Provided tickets to David Copperfield's performance at the Fox Theatre to members at a discount price of nearly 20%.

• Submitted a full-length "parade" of original effects and presentations to The Linking Ring magazine

• Produced monthly newsletters and instituted a new logo for the club

• Had members publish works in The Linking Ring, MAGIC and Genii magazines.

• Held magic auctions. These are great opportunities to purchase used magic books, videos, and apparatus at substantial discounts.

• Created a forum on the Web for our members, where we can ask questions, get advice, plan informal jam sessions, and just talk about magic 24 by 7.

You don't have to be a professional magician to join the Georgia Magic Club, but we do have several well known professional magicians as members. We have members who are students in junior high school, high school and college, professional magicians, bankers, software engineers, management executives, attorneys, ministers, missionaries, and pretty much anything else you can think of. Our members have a wide variety of skills and levels of experience, but we all share a love for the art of magic.

To join the Georgia Magic Club/IBM Ring 9, you must first join the International Brotherhood of Magicians. If you are 18 or older and have been interested in magic for two years, you can become an active member. If you are 10-17 and have been interested in magic for one year, you can become a junior member. Applicants for either form of membership must submit an application form and $55 to cover fees and national dues for the first year. National dues thereafter are $40.00 annually. Active and junior members receive "The Linking Ring" magazine each month as a benefit of membership. This magazine contains articles, tricks, and reports from other Rings around the world.

IBM application forms are available at every meeting or online at http://www.magician.org. We can help you fill out the applications and get the two required sponsors. After you become a member of the IBM, you are eligible to join the Georgia Magic Club/IBM Ring 9. Local dues are $15 per year, but that does get you a discount on all Ring 9-sponsored lectures, plus you are eligible to win an award presented each month for the best "theme magic" performance.
